All of these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines (1 Corinthians 12:11).

It’s not all about you.

I know you know. Still,  it seems to be our default position to assume that we are the center of the universe and everything revolves around us.

That’s the heart of the heart of sin.

Beloved, the actual Lord of the Universe, who built you from the ground up, who knows every work of your hand and thought of your heart and somehow loves you anyway–that Lord has given you gifts. Praise God for them, use them for His glory, delight in them–but do not take Pride in them. They are gifts, not accomplishments. You have no more right to be proud of your spiritual gift than of the color of your eyes. At the same time, do not bemoan the gift you “should have,” but don’t. That’s just you trying to be the Center again. Trust God and allow Him to use you as He sees fit.

That’s difficult, but

that’s worship.
