Indispensable One-a-Day Tuesday 6/27/23

A life worthy

The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!”  And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor  (1 Corinthians 12:21-23).

I do some work with a local community theater. One of the things that I love about the place is that the people there never seem to get hung up on their “rank” or position. A person may be the leading actor in one show, getting applause and adulation from the audience, and for the next show they’re painting sets in an empty theater. No autographs, no applause. They don’t mind, because they aren’t there for glory. They are there to serve.

Beloved, you can be preaching or parking cars, serving Communion or sweeping floors. It doesn’t matter. You are serving the Church, and you are indispensable.

Happy Tuesday, Beloved
