Giving Thanks One-a-Day Friday 11/12/21

A life worthy

As we move into Thanksgiving season, I’m going to take another look at one of my all-time favorite worship songs.  It’s written by Don Moen. Part of it is Scripture; all of it is scriptural. Feel free to sing along!

Give thanks with a grateful heart.

Give thanks to the Holy One.

Give thanks, because he’s given Jesus Christ, his son.

Are you thankful today, Beloved?

I hope so.

Not just because God deserves it

although he does.

Not just because it’s the right thing to do

although it is.

Not just because Scripture commands it

although that’s true, too.

I hope you’re thankful today because that’s the healthiest frame of mind to be in. We’re charging full-steam into the holidays, and you just know the kind of stress that can dredge up. Money stress, family stress, work stress, whattheheckiswrongwiththesupplychainandwhyareallmygiftessittingonafreighteroffthecoastofLongBeach stress.

That’s a new one, special for this year.

It’ll get you, kid.

It’ll bust you right up.

Unless you get your head straight and let the thanks start flowing, right now.

As in, right now.

Happy Friday, Beloved
